The Scott Monument is a Victorian Gothic monument to the Scottish writer Sir Walter Scott. It is the second largest monument to a writer in the world, after the José Martí monument in Havana. It is located in Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens, opposite the former Jenners building on Princes Street and close to Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station, named after Scott's Waverley novels.
Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland and one of its 32 council areas. The city is located in south-east Scotland, and is bounded to the north by the Firth of Forth estuary and to the south by the Pentland Hills. Edinburgh had a population of 506,520 in mid-2020, making it the second-most populous city in Scotland and the seventh-most populous in the United Kingdom. aerial view of edinburgh scott monument, aerial view of the scott monument located in the old town and princess street in edinburgh, scott monument in edinburgh city centre, gothic revival architecture in scotland, a victorian gothic monument to the scott](https://media.istockphoto.com/id/2148185696/es/foto/aerial-view-of-edinburgh-scott-monument-aerial-view-of-the-scott-monument-located-in-the-old.jpg?b=1&s=612x612&w=0&k=20&c=_Sb--g6QytoPEd7VZBUizfL6p7pgeLxb-xyqNJrG-Ik=)
